Mission and vision
Hugo Wilmar's photos and films, which he made during his employment, are stored in various national and international archives. The letters, private photos, films and articles written by Hugo Wilmar in the family archive connect the national and international archives and place Hugo Wilmar's work in a broader context.
The stories from the letters that Hugo Wilmar wrote during his life form a Tintin-like story. They sketch the world view of the top photographer behind, in front of and through the lens of his camera, making the stories behind the iconic photos tangible.
From a cultural-historical point of view, the works of Hugo Wilmar add an important part to the stories and images of the period 1940-1960.
The Hugo Wilmar Foundation's primary objective is to make these stories accessible to a wide audience.
From the Hugo Wilmar Foundation, we initiate, guide and facilitate various projects, which we actively support. Unlocking and promoting the works of top photographer Hugo Wilmar is central to this.
